Janovice location is situated in the picturesque foothills of the Moravian-silesian Beskydy mountains, 6 km south-east of the town Frýdek-Místek and 5 km north-east of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. It borders on these municipalities: Baška, Skalice, Raškovice, Krásná, Lubno and Pržno. Thanks to its geographical position between the industrial Ostrava region, Frýdek-Místek region and the Beskydy mountain range we can call Janovice "The Entrance to Beskydy". The influence of the nearby industry is combined with local traditional agriculture as well as the natural terms of an urbanized territory with natural characteristics of mountain massives.
